Our current President pro tem, Willow Elliott, ends her term in February 2024.

Nominations are open for the 2-year term of President and one year term of Vice President (OR two Co-Presidents). Recommend a candidate, (with their permission) or put your name in the hat. Send name and contact information to npsopdxchapter@gmail.com by January 10th, 2024. A list of expectations is below. Your nominee will be contacted by the Election Committee.

President and Vice President Two-Year Term

Duties and Expectations

General Expectations of All Board members:

  • Be a paid NPSO member with basic Oregon native plants familiarity.

  • Be familiar with the mission, policies, and bylaws of NPSO Portland Chapter.

  • Attend quarterly board meetings and actively participate in decision-making.

  • Stay informed about chapter and state projects, activities, and membership concerns.

  • Have email, texting, and general computer skills. Competence with Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Photos, and Zoom is helpful.

President:

Presides at Chapter program meetings and quarterly Chapter Board meetings, represents the Chapter at quarterly NPSO State Board meetings and other functions, appoints vacant committee chairpersons, remains as immediate past president the first year of any new president’s term, and performs additional functions as required. 

Layman’s Terms: Be familiar with the bylaws. Attend and make announcements at monthly program (Zoom) meetings. Develop an agenda for, and lead quarterly chapter board meetings. Attend state board meetings on behalf of the Chapter. Oversee Chapter operations.  The Executive Committee (President, Secretary, Treasurer, and VP) leads the charge on all operations. Coordinate election of officers as needed.  Receive and respond to requests for information about Chapter/NPSO. 

Time commitment : 15 hours/month. Board Meetings may add more time. Vice president helps with presidential duties and learns the president's job.

Vice President:

Presides at regular meetings in the absence of the president, serves as an active co-president, and may be assigned other responsibilities by the Executive Committee as needed. Learns the president’s job and may move into the president’s position at the end of the president’s term.

Time commitment : 8-10 hrs/month
